God's Offer Of Life

How To Accept God's Offer Of Life

1. Turn from sin

You cannot come to Christ and remain the same.

Jesus said: "The right time has come... and the kingdom of God is near!  Turn away from your sins and believe the Good News!"  Mark 1:15

People are troubled by sins of attitude like, pride, greed, hypocrisy, bitterness, resentment, anger or lust; and sinful actions like dishonesty, immorality, drunkenness, laziness and violence.  But the root of all sin is a spirit of independence that rejects God's authority and says,

"I'll please myself,"  I'll do it my way,"

You need to acknowledge that you have been living without Christ and rejecting God's authority.  You need to confess specific sins, putting things right where necessary.  This could involve mending a broken relationship, repaying a debt, or giving up a sinful attitude or habit.

"The Bible says, "If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness"

Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords.  He has total rights over every part of your life.  You must submit to His authority, willingly putting your time, talents, money, relationships, family, ambitions, hobbies, habits and worries under His control!

2.  Accept Jesus as Saviour & Lord

How then does this new life arrive?  Simply by our asking God for it.  There is nothing to pay.

We can accept God's new life just as we are.  If you don't know how to pray, use this simple prayer.

"Lord God, I admit that my life falls short of Your standards.  I know that I can never make myself what I ought to be.  But I believe that Jesus died on the cross to make it possible for me to be forgiven and experience Your gift of a new life.  And so now I hand over my life to You. asking You to be my Lord and King as I serve you in the fellowship of Your church for the rest of my life. Amen"

"If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

 3. What Happens Next?

  • Tell someone what you have done - a Christian friend who can help you with advice and ideas.

  • Begin to read the Bible and look for God to help you understand it.

  • Talk to the Lord some time each day, as you would a friend, then your relationship will start to grow.

  • Look for a good, lively church where the Bible is taught and believed.

When you have prayed, begin to thank the Lord for hearing your prayer.

Thank Him for all that He has done and all that He is going to do in your life.

Now begin to live the Christian life, confident that by His Spirit, The Lord Jesus is living within!
